METAIRIE, La. — The Causeway Police Department and Louisiana Department of Transportation have announced the reopening of the Southbound lanes of the Causeway Bridge after an accident on Wednesday afternoon.
However, just after 1:20 p.m., officials advised that the left lane will be closed at the 14.8 Mile Marker, and for motorists to please merge into the right lane.
The initial closure was announced at 12:18 p.m.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the Causeway Police said the closure would remain for about an hour and advised motorists to use an alternative route.
This is a developing story and will be updated once further information become available or the lanes reopen once the crash is cleared.
