GRAMERCY, La. — The St. James Parish Sheriff's Office announced that the 200 block of Jefferson Highway in Gramercy was shut down due to police activity. Jefferson Hwy has since reopened.
The announcement of the Jefferson Highway closure was issued shortly before 9:20 p.m.
Approximately 15 minutes later, the sheriff's office also announced the closure of the Veterans Bridge, but by 10:45 p.m. it was reopened.
There is no further information as to the cause of the closure or the nature of the police activity.
