NEW ORLEANS — The Slidell Police Department said that one of their officers was injured in a single-car crash on Interstate 10 Friday around 9:15 a.m.
Police say the officer was responding to a call for service when he crashed near the I-10, I-59, and I-12 split.
The officer reportedly lost control of his vehicle while switching lanes and hit the guard rail causing the police car to flip over.
Investigators noted heavy rain as a factor in the crash.
The officer was transported to the hospital and only suffered minor injuries. He stated that he was very grateful for the fact he was wearing his seat belt and that it quite possibly saved his life.
