One dead in accident on Highway 190W, Slidell police say

Around 4 p.m. officers said they were alerted of a "serious accident" and the roadway was shut down in both directions.

SLIDELL, La. — One is dead after a crash on U.S. Highway 190W in Slidell on Friday afternoon, according to Slidell Police Department.

The crash caused a road closure around 4 p.m. when officers were alerted of a "serious accident". The roadway was shut down in both directions from the Tractor Supply to the Grande Movie Theater.

UPDATE: 190W is open. The accident involved a fatality. We will release more information tomorrow morning.

Police cars were seen lined up on the westbound side of Gause Boulevard.

🚨Gause Blvd W. (Highway 190W) is shut down in both directions (Tractor Supply to the Grande Movie Theater) due to a serious accident. The roadway will be closed for a while. Use an alternate route.
