I-10 Traffic headed toward Metairie cleared after granite spill closed lanes

Monday afternoon State Police showed the mess in a Tweeted photo. It is now clear, and traffic is flowing.

METAIRIE, La. — Update: The spill is cleared, and traffic is flowing.

If you're headed home towards Metairie, Kenner, St. Charles or St. John Parish you may want to seek an alternative to I-10.

State Police say three of the lanes of traffic are closed on I-10 westbound near the Bonnabel Overpass after a large load of granite has spilled onto the highway.

State Police showed the mess in a Tweeted photo and it could take some time to clean up.

The spill comes as rush hour traffic began Monday evening with many people undoubtedly trying to get home to catch the Monday night football game between the Saints and Tampa Bay Bucs.

Police are on the scene and traffic cones are out. The mess is in the three right lanes and the shoulder of the road.
