NEW ORLEANS — A man is dead and two more were hurt after a traffic collision on the I-10 in New Orleans early Sunday morning.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to help those hurt in the collision, but when they arrived, they declared a fifty-year-old man dead.
New Orleans Police Department's Public Affairs Division are holding off on releasing the 50-year-old man's name until his family can be reached with the news.
The man was driving a red Ford pickup truck west on the I-10 near the Elysian Fields Avenue off-ramp, shortly after midnight. He lost control of the truck and hit the guard rail.
On its side, the truck slid until it hit a white Infinity that was also driving west on the I-10.
Paramedics took two men who were in the Infinity to the hospital after the crash for treatment. Their injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.
NOPD detectives are investigating the crash. They took samples to test for blood alcohol levels, and results were not back yet Sunday morning.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name after conducting an autopsy to determine exactly what killed the man.
