EPA regulations on chemical plants spared

That includes a Denka Plant in St. John Parish, which has until July 2026 to reduce its chloroprene emissions.

LOUISIANA, USA — The Biden Administration just got a big legal victory against chemical plants that are accused of pumping toxic chemicals into nearby neighborhoods.

The U.S. Supreme Court left two environmental regulations in place that aimed to reduce those chemical emissions from plants across the country, including Louisiana.

The regulations are giving plants up to three years to reduce their emissions. That includes a Denka Plant in St. John Parish, which has until July 2026 to reduce its chloroprene emissions.

The rule originally gave the Denka Plant until this month to reduce its emissions but successfully appealed that decision, pushing back the deadline two years.
