NEW ORLEANS — Despite the Chicago Sky's loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, Angel Reese still won.
She was awarded with the BET's 2024 Sports Women of the Year.
"Thank you BET for Sportswomen of the Year!" Reese said in a tweet.
The Chi-Town Barbie was unable to attend the award ceremony. Reese's former teammate, Flau’jae Johnson, was also nominated for the award.
Reese finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds in an eight-point loss against the Lynx. Her 10th straight double-double broke the WNBA single-season record.
In the past year she has helped the women's basketball game grow and become one of the most well-known players.
Earlier this summer, she was the 7th pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.
In her last season at LSU, she averaged 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
Off the court, she racked up NIL deals with Raising Cane's, Coach, McDonald's, Wingstop, Outback Steakhouse, Campus Ink, Caktus AI, Mercedes Benz of Baton Rouge, SI Swimsuit, Mielle, Starry, Final Fantasy XVI, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, and ZOA energy.
Last year, she won the national championship and was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player. She also garnered First Team All-America, First Team All-SEC, and SEC All-Defensive Team selections at LSU.
