The Lady Tigers are set to face off against Middle Tennessee on their home turf on Sunday as part of the NCAA women's basketball tournament.
The game has been scheduled for broadcast on ESPN at 2 p.m. LSU will be playing on campus at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Middle Tennessee is the number 11 seed in the NCAA tournament. The school, located in Murfreesboro, Tenn., defeated Louisville in a close 71-69. It was Middle Tennessee's first win in a NCAA tournament since 2007.
In 2023, Coach Kim Mulkey led the LSU women's squad to the NCAA championship, where they defeated Iowa 102-85 in the final game. This year, LSU entered the tournament as a number-three seed.
On Friday, LSU won 70-60, facing a formidable challenge from the No. 14-seeded Rice University, featuring forward Malia Fisher, during the first round of the women's NCAA tournament.
Aneesah Morrow added 15 points, while Flau'Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams each scored 14 for the defending national champion Tigers (29-5), who had a hard time putting away the Owls (19-15), in no small part because they committed a season-high 24 turnovers.
Angel Reese, LSU's forward, scored 10 points with 19 rebounds. In the battle of Reese vs. Rice -- Reese came out on top, but it was a close game.
"This is March," said Reese after the win. "I mean, anybody can win at any given time... every game is not going to be pretty. We look back at games last year – our Miami game was not pretty at all. Our Utah game wasn't pretty. So, just being able to understand what it takes to win. We got over the hump tonight, but we can't make the mistakes we made tonight."
