NEW ORLEANS — As Hurricane Milton is forecast to hit the Florida Gulf Coast area of Tampa this week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will relocate team operations to the New Orleans area, ESPN sports reporter Ian Rapoport reports.
According to team officials, the Bucs will head to Louisiana days ahead of Sunday's game to avoid a flight as Milton is expected to make landfall by Wednesday.
"The team will conduct the remainder of its preparations for that game at a site in New Orleans. The Bucs typically practice in the mornings on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday," the franchise said in a statement released Monday.
The Bucs go into Week 6 with a 3-2 record after a 36-30 loss to Atlanta. They play the Saints (2-2) on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
Meanwhile, the Saints play the undefeated Chiefs at Kansas City (4-0) on Monday night and look to reverse a two-game slide after going 2-0 to start the season.
