NEW ORLEANS — It's a more senior position for Pelicans' forward/center Jeremiah Robinson-Earl as the forward/center signed a standard 2-year contract with the team on Friday.
Initially signing to a two-way contract with the Pels back on his 23rd birthday in November. Robinson-Earl will now occupy the 14th spot on the Pelicans season roster.
The two-way contract had allowed Robinson-Earl to spend time playing for the NBA G League's Birmingham Squadron in Alabama.
According to Pelicans officials Robinson-Earl has played in "21 games (one start for the Pelicans this season, averaging 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 10 minutes per game."
And according to NOLA.com, elevating the six-foot-eight player helped the Pels avoid a luxury tax, after they had already traded Kira Lewis, Jr. in January.
The 6-foot-nine Robinson-Earl was originally drafted to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021 after playing for Villanova in college.
The Pelicans are 33-22, in sixth place in the Western Conference at the All-Star break.
