PARIS, France — Kristen Nuss and her longtime beach volleyball partner, Taryn Kloth, were eliminated by Canada in the Round of 16.
Canada's pairing of Melissa Humana Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson upset the higher-ranked USA team.
Nuss and Kloth had a 14-9 lead in the first set but were unable to hold it. They ultimately lost the first set 21-19 and the second set 21-18.
The former LSU beach volleyball duo was the first American beach volleyball pair ever to go for Olympic gold without any connection to the Golden State.
