Saints to rock 'Color Rush' uniforms vs. Eagles after Sean Payton's lost golfing bet

The Saints have won each time they've worn the Color Rush variants in 2018 after going winless in the two previous years.

Good news, everyone! Per a report from the Advocate’s Nick Underhill, the New Orleans Saints will honor head coach Sean Payton’s lost golfing bet with Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederman, and let the visiting team wear their home colors. That means white jerseys for the Saints, and they’re using the opportunities to show off one of the NFL’s best alternates: their gold-on-white “Color Rush” variants.

The Saints have won each time they’ve worn the Color Rush variants in 2018 after going winless in the two previous years. This game gives them an opportunity to get over that .500 hump and let these awesome uniforms have as strong a winning percentage as their look demands. Here’s where the Saints stand in their all-time rankings with each of their different uniform combinations:

  • White jersey, gold pants: 33-18, .647
  • White jersey, black pants: 88-56, .611
  • Black jersey, black pants: 22-18, .550
  • White jersey, white pants: 2-2, .500
  • Black jersey, gold pants: 40-48, .455

For their part, the Eagles are slated to wear their green home jerseys. Maybe luck will strike in our favor and they’ll make this an all-alternates game and show up with their awesome Kelly Green jerseys, but that’s probably a long shot given the NFL’s reluctance in allowing them to wear matching helmets.

In addition to this jersey deal, as part of a separate lost wager, Payton agreed to make a $5,000 donation to Philadelphia’s Autism Challenge. It’s great to see someone’s loss, however small, turn into a big gain for everyone involved.
