NEW ORLEANS — The Saints have parted ways with co-defensive coordinator Kris Richard, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
This move comes recently after the team's other co-DC, Ryan Nielsen, took the DC job for the Atlanta Falcons.
While the Saints finished 7-10 in the 2022 season and failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year, their defense was a strong unit, ranked no. 8 in defensive DVOA by Football Outsiders.
On Tuesday, the Saints traded former head coach Sean Payton to the Denver Broncos for a 2023-first-round pick and other future assets. Payton coached the Saints from 2006-2021 and brought the franchise their lone Super Bowl win in the 2009 season.
