Saints: It's a no-go for an All-Pro, plus other roster moves

"He will be waived with a failed physical designation," said head coach Dennis Allen a day after the Saints claimed him.

One day after claiming running back and All-Pro kick returner Kene Nwangwu off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said the 26-year-old will be waived with a failed physical designation.

"[Nwangwu] will be waived with a failed physical designation," Allen told media after Friday's practice in Metairie, La. "I don't know when that comes out."

The three-year veteran was drafted in the fourth round in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Vikings, where his six kick return touchdowns and 1,879 return yards rank first and second respectively in the NFL since 2021.

In other transactions, the Saints signed former LSU offensive tackle Austin Deculus and former Cleveland Browns tight end Treyton Welch to the practice squad and terminated the contract of tight end Mason Fairchild.
