NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints could be adding a 24-year-old former first-round pick.
NFL Network Insider says Tom Pelissero says free-agent pass rusher Chase Young is expected to visit the Panthers and Saints this week.
Young was selected No. 2 in the 2020 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders. He won 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year and spent his four seasons with them before being traded at the deadline to the San Fransico 49ers.
He has 16.5 sacks in his career, but almost half of those came in his rookie year. Chase tore his ACL in 2021 and only appeared in 3 games the following season.
Last year, he matched his career high of 7.5 sacks, five of which came in nine games for Washington before the trade.
Young has also added a visit to the Titans to his schedule, according to Ian Rapoport.
Saints defensive end Cam Jordan lobbied for Young to choose the Saints in a tweet, saying, "Well, we know it’s not the Panthers, right!? Sooo make them rounds n come on down to the 504."
