NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints announced specialist and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed has been selected to play in the the Pro Bowl Games for the first time in his career on Wednesday.
The team celebrated his accomplishment in a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to a statement made on the Saints website, Shaheed marks the 16th consecutive season that the club has had at least one Pro Bowl selection. He was chosen as a starter at the return specialist position.
Shaheed signed with the Saints after the 2022 NFL Draft out of Weber State, ranked second in the NFC and third in the NFL with a punt return average of 14.0.
The 25-year-old is the fourth Saint to be handpicked to the Pro Bowl as a returner. He joins Tyrone Hughes (1993), Michael Lewis (2002) and Deonte Harris (2019), the team stated.
Within two seasons, he has returned 43 punts for 514 yards and a touchdown. Shaheed ranked third in franchise record books for his 12.0 punt return.
