METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Ryan Ramczyk may require offseason surgery to repair an injured knee that has kept him out of the last two games and has him on pace to miss Week 17 against Tampa Bay.
According to WWL Louisiana media partner Nola.com, 29-year-old All-Pro tackle said he “probably” needs offseason surgery on his knee but doesn’t know “for sure yet.”
“That’s something I’ve thought about,” Ramczyk said, referring to how the knee injury might even affect his life after football. “I think this offseason, (I’m) going to try and get a lot of questions answered and talk to a lot of people and hear a lot of opinions and go from there.”
Ramczyk is three seasons into the five-year, $96 million extension he signed in 2021.
Saints safety Lonnie Johnson has also yet to practice this week due to a knee injury of his own.
Seven other Saints saw limited participation, including:
- S – Jordan Howden, NIR-Illness
- DE – Isaiah Foskey, Quadricep
- DE – Cameron Jordan, Ankle
- C – Erik McCoy, Foot
- RB – Kendre Miller, Ankle
- WR – Chris Olave, Ankle
- DE – Payton Turner, Toe
Notable Saints on injured reserve include receiver Michael Thomas (knee), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ankle), safety Marcus Maye (shoulder), defensive end Malcolm Roach (knee) and most recently offensive tackle Nick Saldiveri (shoulder).
Defensive end Payton Turner continues to engage in limited participation at practice. Turner has been on injured reserve since the season opener against the Tennessee Titans with a toe injury.
The Saints (7-8) attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive with an NFC South matchup with the division-leading Buccaneers (8-7) in Tampa, Fla., on Sunday.
Kickoff is set for noon.
