Ex-Saints great Rickey Jackson having brain surgery

The surgery was confirmed by a source close to the former Saints star. The details of the condition that required the surgery were uncertain.

Former Saints player and Pro Football Hall of Fame Member Rickey Jackson underwent brain surgery Wednesday at a local hospital, according to a Tweet from fellow Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.

The surgery was confirmed by a source close to the former Saints star. The details of the condition that required the surgery were uncertain.

Eyewitness news Medical Reporter Meg Farris has been in touch with Jackson's daughter, who said he is out of surgery and doing well.

Dickerson Tweeted that his good friend was in surgery and asked for prayers this morning.

“Prayers for my good friend @ProFootballHOF Ricky Jackson of the @Saints. He’s having brain surgery this morning. Ricky will overcome this adversity and prevail.”

Jackson was a member of the Saints Dome Patrol defense that made life terrible for opposing quarterbacks and offensive players.

Jackson underwent surgery for prostate cancer in 2015.

He was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, with the announcement coming as the Saints were preparing to play their first-ever Super Bowl.
