Dennis Allen says Taysom Hill avoided 'serious' chest injury, shares latest details

METAIRIE, La. — Fans of the New Orleans Saints can breathe a sigh of relief after head coach Dennis Allen shared some somewhat encouraging words in an update on Taysom Hill's injury that sent him to a Dallas hospital in the second half of the team's 44-19 crushing win over the Cowboys on Sunday.

"Taysom is doing good," Allen told media on Monday. "He feels good, I don't know if we've gotten all the results back – he went and had some more imaging done today. I think we avoided anything real serious.

"It's a chest injury. It's nothing that's serious, so he'll be in the rehab process just like everybody else is, and we'll go from there."

Prior to his early exit in Arlington, the Saints' "Swiss Army knife" rushed for 18 yards on three carries and recorded a one-yard reception, as well as made several key blocks to help spring the Saints to a 35-16 halftime lead.

However, a play in the third quarter ultimately hospitalized the team captain, mainly for precautionary measures.

Allen did not give specifics about his availability against the Eagles on Sunday.

"We'll just monitor him throughout the week, see what he can do, see what he can't do and go from there," said Allen of Hill, who flew back with the team following the game.
