Chiefs shamefully steal Saints 'Choppa Style' celebration

The New Orleans Saints have been victims of this kind of theft before, with the impromptu group celebrations they became known for last year spreading throughout the NFL and growing old fast.

NEW ORLEANS — It’s not enough for other NFL teams to steal the New Orleans Saints’ group celebration photo-ops after turnovers and touchdowns. Now they’re robbing New Orleans of its choreography.

The Kansas City Chiefs put a big target on their backs by rolling out the “Bike Life” dance made popular by Saints backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater during postgame locker room parties, usually set to New Orleans-area hip-hop classic “Choppa Style.” Look at this blatant theft and cringe along with us:

It’s one thing to pay tribute to someone else – that’s what Saints star wideout Michael Thomas did by celebrating a touchdown with a phone call, as Joe Horn once did for the black and gold – but it’s something else to take somebody’s signature move and rebrand it as your own. College students get torched every semester for lesser plagiarism.

The Saints have been victims of this kind of theft before, with the impromptu group celebrations they became known for last year spreading throughout the NFL and growing old fast. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams chided other teams for mimicking the Saints like that; stronger words have to be leveled at the Chiefs for this low blow. Thankfully, Saints running back Mark Ingram was quick to go after Kansas City on Twitter, making it clear that there “ain’t no Chiefs Kingdom Choppa Style“:

Poor form by the Chiefs, here. Hopefully, the Saints get a chance for payback in the Super Bowl.
