'The greatest Saint of all time' | Drew Brees inducted into team's Hall of Fame

The Saints made the announcement on Thursday. He's the only player player inducted this year.

NEW ORLEANS — Arguably the greatest Saint of all time will enter the team's Hall of Fame in 2024.

The Saints made the announcement on Thursday. He's the only player player inducted this year. Brees spoke about the honor on Thursday, saying it's tremendous and it's always great to be back in the facility.

He thanked his teammates and said, "They inspired me every day."

Brees played 305 regular season and playoff games and threw for more than 85,000 total yards and 598 TDs.

The former San Diego Charger QB came to New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

"Our point A to point B is not God's point A to point B.  It doesn't mean you are not going to get there. You are going to get there when the time is right.  After you have had a chance to learn, grow and battle through adversity," Brees said.

He went 151-94 as a starter in the Black and Gold.

After reaching the NFC title game in year one, he took the Saints on an unforgettable run to Miami in the 2009 season, starting that year 13-0, finishing off Arizona in the playoffs, then Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings one week later to clinch the team’s first-ever NFC Championship and a Super Bowl berth.

Brees completed 32-of-39 passes for 28 yards and two touchdowns to earn MVP honors in the Super Bowl and send Saints fans into the streets for the biggest party New Orleans had ever thrown.

He retired from football as the leader in regular-season passing yards in NFL history and second in touchdowns. Brees officially ended his career as an NFL quarterback exactly 15 years after signing his first contract with the Saints. He changed how the nation saw the Saints and in many ways how they saw the city of New Orleans
