CORVALLIS, Ore. — Tulane ran into a buzzsaw in Sunday's elimination game against Cal-Irvine, losing 17-7 to end its season with a 36-26 mark.
Tulane just couldn't keep the Anteaters bats quiet, as the Wave gave up 15 hits and 11 walks as Irvine scored 17 runs. The backbreaker came in the seventh as it was only 6-3 Cal-Irvine going into the inning, but when it ended - nine runs later - it was 15-3 and the game was out of reach.
Oregon State will take on UC-Irvine Sunday night with the Anteaters needing to win two - one Sunday and another Monday, to come back and take the regional.
