NEW ORLEANS — The reigning national champs will play the Rice Owls in the first round of the women's NCAA tournament.
The Tigers earned a 3 seed in the women's NCAA tournament. They are in the Albany Regional 2. If LSU wins its first-round matchup, they will play either Louisville or Middle Tennessee.
UCLA is the 2 seed, and Iowa is the 1 seed in their region. LSU could possibly face UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen and then have a potential national title rematch against Iowa in the Elite 8.
With South Carolina on the other side of the bracket, they could potentially meet for the third time this season in the National Championship game.
The tourney tips off on March 20 with the First Four games, and the first-round games start on March 22.
LSU will host the first and second-round games, which will take place from March 22 to March 25 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

- Selection Sunday: 8 p.m. ET Sunday, March 17 on ESPN
- First Four: March 20-21
- First round: March 22-23
- Second round: March 24-25
- Sweet 16: March 29-30
- Elite Eight: March 31-April 1
- Final Four: Friday, April 5 at 7:30 and 8 p.m. C.T. on ESPN at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
- NCAA championship game: Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. C.T. on ABC
