NEW ORLEANS — The 2024 Major League Baseball draft started on Sunday night in Fort Worth.
LSU 3rd baseman Tommy White was the first pick of the 2nd round. White was selected 40th overall by the Oakland A's.
Last season White had a .330 batting average, 24 home runs, and 70 RBIs.
31 picks later, the Cincinnati Reds took LSU right-hander Luke Holman with the 71st pick.
Holman had one brilliant season in Baton Rouge after starting his college career at Alabama. He was 9-4 with an era under three last season.
Two picks after Holman the Oakland A's took LSU's lefty Gage Jump. Jump will now join Tommy White in Oakland.
Jump was 6-2 last season with an era of 3.47.
