BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU's gymnastics team made history again with the highest average in attendance across the nation in 2024. It's the second time in the program's history they've achieved that level.
LSU averaged over 12,000 fans per meet during the regular season. The team is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation and finished with an undefeated home season, according to the university. LSU has stayed in the top four of average attendance for seven years straight. In 2022, the Tigers ended Utah's streak and claimed No.1.
This year, they did it again.
“Our fan base continues to show why this is the best place in the country to be a collegiate athlete,” said head coach Jay Clark. “We are so grateful to our fan base for their loyalty and for the enthusiasm in which they come out. The PMAC is truly a unique environment unlike anything else in college gymnastics.”
The team finished its seventh season with an average of 10, 000 or better. More than 75,000 Tiger fans showed up to the PMAC for six home meets. This year they had three back-to-back sold-out crowds in the home season and attendance ranked top-10 for competitions in Auburn, Alabama, and North Carolina, LSU Gymnastics stated.
In the final meet against North Carolina, 13,282 fans supported seniors in their win, "the crowd was the fourth largest in school history and achieved the program’s third consecutive sellout inside the PMAC."
Ticket sales are also booming, over 8,000 season tickets were sold ahead of the 2024 season.
“We continue to break records with our attendance and create an environment that’s second to none,” said Clark.
