CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — LSU rallied once again, defeating Wofford 4-3 in the opening round game of the NCAA regional tournament after being behind 2-0 early and 3-1 in the bottom half of the eighth.

The 2-seed Tigers only managed six hits off of 3-seed Wofford’s pitching, but four of those were solo homers, with two coming in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 3 and one coming in the bottom of the ninth to nab the walk-off win.

Steven Milam had a pair of homers for the Tigers – one in the 7th that got LSU on the board and one in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off.

Wofford’s starter Branton Little stymied LSU for five innings, allowing only two hits and no runs, but the relief pitchers weren’t as fortunate

In addition to Milam’s two homers, LSU got two solo shots in the 8th to tie the score with Michael Braswell and Jared Jones each hitting one out.

LSU handled Wofford in the top of the ninth, setting the stage for Milam’s heroics. He was the first batter up and he walked it off.

LSU (41-21) next takes on the winner of top-seed North Carolina (42-13) and 4-seed Long Island University (33-23) on Saturday in a winner’s bracket contest.
