LSU issues statement on 'intolerable behavior' displayed by fans throwing trash on field in loss to Alabama

BATON ROUGE, La. — Shortly after LSU was fined $250,000 by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for the second time this season for fans throwing trash and debris onto the field at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., the school issued a statement condemning the acts like the one that occurred during LSU's 42-13 loss to Alabama on Saturday.

“LSU never, under any circumstances, condones the throwing of debris onto the field of play at any of its venues. This kind of unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, and we will take immediate steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.”

LSU was fined an additional $250K after fans stormed the field after a 29-26 overtime win over Ole Miss last month.

The fine comes under the sportsmanship, game management and alcohol availability policies set by the SEC.
