NEW ORLEANS — One of LSU's star players, Angel Reese, was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. Reese and four teammates were honored with awards Tuesday.
Mikaylah Williams won Freshman of the Year for SEC women's basketball postseason awards. Aneesah Morrow gained a spot in the first team with the All-SEC and Flau'jae Johnson earned a slot on the second team.
Aalyah Del Rosario secured one of eight spots on SEC's all-freshman team.
Reese is the third LSU Tiger to be named SEC Player of the Year along with DeTrina White in 1999; Seimone Augustus, 2003; LaSondra Barrett, 2009; Flau’Jae Johnson, 2023.
For the second year in a row, she was named to the league's all-defense team. Reese averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds per game this regular season, while shooting 50 percent from the field.
Williams is the second Tiger to win SEC Freshman of the Year, following Johnson last year. Williams averaged 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists.
