Zion Williamson out for Friday’s Play-In Tournament elimination game vs. Sacramento

The team will be back on the floor Friday for the do-or-die Western Conference play-in finale against the Sacramento Kings.

NEW ORLEANS — Zion Williamson will once again miss a Pelicans postseason game. The team announced that Williamson strained his left hamstring. He is out for Friday’s Play-In Tournament elimination game.

According to the Pelicans, an MRI was taken Wednesday morning, and the injury was confirmed. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Williamson starred in his first postseason game, scoring 40 points on the Los Angeles Lakers before slamming a towel and exiting the floor.

The Pelicans are now set to host the Sacramento Kings without Williamson.

It is a favorable match-up for New Orleans. They are a perfect 5-0 against the Kings this season. In the team's last meeting in Sacramento, the Pelicans came out on top 135-123. The game before that the Pels won by 33.

With a win, the Pels clinch the 8th seed and will play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

So, if the Pelicans were to win against the Kings, Williamson would most likely miss the entire first-round series.
