Trey Murphy remains questionable as Pelicans take 3-game win streak to conference-leading Timberwolves

Murphy has been sidelined for the last two games due to left knee soreness, most recently playing in last week's home win over the Utah Jazz.

MINNEAPOLIS — A day after extending their win streak to three games following a lopsided 112-85 victory over the visiting Brooklyn Nets, the New Orleans Pelicans (20-14) travel to Minnesota to face the Western Conference-leading Timberwolves (24-8) in a back-to-back on Wednesday.

However, the status of third-year forward Trey Murphy III is still questionable due to left knee tendonitis. Murphy has been sidelined for the last two games due to left knee soreness, most recently playing in last week's home win over the Utah Jazz, in which he contributed six points.

Against the Nets, the Pels led wire-to-wire with seven Pelicans finishing with double-digit scoring topped by C.J. McCollum's 16, followed by Herb Jones with 14 and Jose Alvarado's 13. Center Jonas Valančiūnas recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Wolves are coming off a 112-106 loss against the Knicks (18-15) in New York on Monday.

The Pelicans hold a 38-36 series lead over the Wolves, but have lost four of the last five dating back to last season. The Pels did defeat Minnesota 121-107 in the last meeting between the two teams on Dec. 11.

E.J. Liddell (G League on assignment) and Matt Ryan (right elbow surgery) are listed as out for the Pels.

Wednesday night's tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
