NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Just three days into the 2024-25 NBA training camp, the New Orleans Pelicans have announced that star forward Trey Murphy III has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain.
According to the Pelicans, an MRI on Wednesday confirmed the injury, which occurred on Day 2 of practice from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.
The team says Murphy will be re-examined in approximately three weeks.
Prior to training camp last year, Murphy suffered an injury during a workout that resulted in left meniscus surgery and cost him the start of the season.
Overall, Murphy returned to play in 57 games – starting 23 – and finished the season averaging 14.8 points per game, along with 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
