Pelicans draft Antonio Reeves in 2nd round

Last season, he averaged 20.2 points and shot 44.7% from three.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans made a move to get back into the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft.

They selected Kentucky guard Antonio Reeves with the 47th pick. Reeves spent three years at Illinois State before transferring to Kentucky. Last season, he averaged 20.2 points and shot 44.7% from three.

New Orleans traded two future pick swaps (2030 and 2031) to the Orlando Magic for the 47th pick, according to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

On Wednesday night, the Pelicans selected Baylor center Yves Missi with the 21st pick. The 6-foot-11 big man has a 7-5 wingspan and played just one year in college.  He averaged 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 34 games.

"Obviously really excited to be in a position to improve our frontcourt the way we did," Pelicans Executive VP of Basketball Operations David Griffin said.. "I think Yves' defensive versatility is something we are really excited about. He's not just a rim protector, and he has the ability to be a multiple coverage big. He's a player we're really excited about in terms of upside, but also in terms of character...his intelligence as a human being, his instincts, and the speed at which he picks up new information is really exciting."
