NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Thursday that the team has exercised options on Dyson Daniels and Trey Murphy III.

The Pels picked up a third-year option on the 20-year-old Daniels, an eighth-overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, who has 11 starts in 59 appearances last season.

The 6-foot-7 guard from Australia, averaged 3.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 17.7 minutes per contest while shooting .418 from the floor, .314 from three-point range and .650 from the line.

New Orleans also exercised a fourth-year option on Murphy, who had a standout sophomore season with the team at both the guard and forward positions. The 6-8, 23-year-old, who was the 17th overall pick in the 2021 draft, averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 23.5 minutes per contest while shooting .461 from the floor, .400 from three-point range and .900 from the line.

Currently, Murphy is recovering from knee surgery after sustaining the injury during off-season workouts in September, and was expected to miss 10-12 weeks following the procedure.

The Pelicans went 1-3 during preseason and open the 2023-24 season in Memphis against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
