NEW ORLEANS — Zion Williamson, who has already missed nearly two dozen games this season will be out for "multiple weeks" after the All-Star game after he re-aggravated his hamstring injury, according to ESPN Basketball Writer Andrew Lopez.
Williamson originally injured the hamstring on January 2 against Philadelphia. Without his presence, the Pelicans have dropped from close to the top of the NBA's Western Conference to close to the play-in level as Zion hasn't dressed for the past 20 games.
The Pelicans are 6-14 in those games.
Lopez quoted Griffin as saying that Zion was working his way back and had gotten up to 3 on 3 drills when he re-aggravated the hamstring strain. He will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.
The team struggled with a recent 10-game losing streak before winning three straight. They dropped their most recent game to Cleveland Friday night and begin a road swing Monday.
