NEW ORLEANS — Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram each had 26 points and C.J. McCollum added 22 as the Pelicans scored 42 points in the first quarter and never looked back in a 129-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday night to ring in the new year.
The win came just 3 weeks after the Pelicans were wiped off of the court by the Lakers in the NBA's In-Season Tournament with a 44-point loss.
The Pelicans also had a high activity game by Jose Alvarado who had 8 points, 4 steals, 3 assists and 5 rebounds.
The Pels scored 42 points in the first quarter and led by 9. They were up by 15 at the half. They hit 50 percent from the three-point line (17 of 34).
The homestand ends with a game against Brooklyn Tuesday night, followed by 6 of the next 7 on the road.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 34 points and he played 37 minutes. Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves each had 20.
The Pelicans are now 19-14 on the season and tied for 6th place in the NBA's Western Conference.
