NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans will be without guard Dejounte Murray for at least the next month.
On Friday, team officials announced that Murray underwent successful surgery to address his left-hand fracture.
"The surgery was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York," the New Orleans said. "Murray is expected to miss approximately 4-6 weeks."
Murray broke his left hand in the Pelicans' season opener on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls. It happened late in the fourth quarter when he was fouled while shooting a three.
He had 14 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds in the Pels 123-111 win.
The Pelicans will be back on the floor Friday night in Portland to play the Trail Blazers.
