The Pelicans have secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
It's the franchise's second first overall pick in a draft during its time in New Orleans.
Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry interrupted newly-hired General Manager David Griffin talking to reporters with a bear hug on live television following the NBA lottery event.
"Here's something else to consider... If the Knicks are still open to trading for Anthony Davis, the Pelicans could trade AD to New York for the No. 3 pick. That way the Pels could select Duke's RJ Barrett, the swingman they've been searching for. What a night," said WWL-TV sports reporter Andrew Doak.
