DETROIT — The NFL Draft has come and gone, and Pittsburgh has picked up several undrafted free agents, including Marrero’s own Jacoby Windmon.
The Westbank native played two seasons at Michigan State before being scooped up by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent on Saturday night, according to the Steelers and Michigan State.
“I believe it's time to, you know, go to the next level, and do what I do best, live my dream out, because I'm very passionate about this sport. I love football. It teaches the lesson of life so,” Windmon told WWL Louisiana’s Meg Farris days before he entered the NFL Draft and was selected by Pittsburg. “I just hope I get the opportunity, you know, all glory to God for putting me in this position, you know, being a part of the one percent.”
Windmon played 41 games with UNLV, where he got a degree in human development and family studies before transferring to Michigan State, where he played just two seasons.
He played in 11 games at Michigan State, recording 64 tackles, 23 of which were solo. He also forced six fumbles, had three pass defenses, and had an interception.
Windmon joins the Steelers with four other undrafted players: Beanie Bishop, CB, West Virginia; Daijun Edwards, RB, Georgia; John Rhys Plumlee, QB, Central Florida; Julius Welschof, linebacker, Charlotte.
