Tyjae Spears holds inaugural youth football camp

The running back brought a hands-on approach to the 150-plus campers in attendance.

PONCHATOULA, La. — From Tulane to the Tennessee Titans, everywhere Tyjae Spears has shined, his community of Ponchatoula has been right behind him.

Saturday, Spears got the opportunity to show his love and appreciation right back. Spears returned to Ponchatoula High School to host his first-ever summer camp.

"When you're going through the process, you already know the effect and what you're doing," said Spears. "You don't the the impact that you're leaving on people."

The running back brought a hands-on approach to the 150-plus campers in attendance.

"I was in their shoes before and I had to go through a bunch of trials and tribulations to get to where I'm at", he said.

A few local Titans teammates helped as coaches, including former Hahnville and Tulane wideout Jha'Quan Jackson, Garrett Wallow from John Curtis, and Kentwood's Shyheim Carter.

For Spears, who celebrated his 23rd birthday, it was a hallmark he won't forget.

"This is so special. I know we touched somebody out there today. It's amazing," Spears said.
