NEW ORLEANS — The Loyola Wolf Pack baseball team has secured their spot in the NAIA National Championship.
On Thursday afternoon, the team celebrated making it to the tournament. They're a No. 3 seed at the University of the Cumberlands regional round site in Williamsburg, Kentucky – and they couldn't be happier, especially after not hearing their name called during last year's selection show.
"Big deal for those guys. They invested all this time, especially the guys who came here out of high school," said head coach Jeremy Kennedy. "The growth has taken place and I'm proud of them and them individually. To have one more opportunity, I think is special."
For the third time in four years, the team will compete in the national tournament. "The Wolf Pack hosted in 2021 and they were one win away from the World Series in 2022 before missing out on postseason play in 2023," the team said on the university's website.
The tournament begins on Monday, May 13.
The winner of each double-elimination will advance to the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
