NEW ORLEANS — Angel Reese has become a co-owner of DC Power Football Club, a professional women's soccer team in Washington, D.C.
“I want to help grow women’s sports and elevate female athletes across the board,” said Reese in a statement. “We’re taking over, and I’m honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women’s soccer in the DMV community.”
The Maryland native said on X, "I've always had a desire to invest in a local team."
According to Nola.com, Reese joins an ownership group that includes D.C. United of MLS and other community and business leaders.
The DC Power plays in the USL Super League, a separate league from the National Women's Soccer League. Their season starts in August.
