Weather forecast forces changes to kickoff times for Karr, Rummel and St. Charles playoff games

Three New Orleans-area prep football teams have announced changes to start times for their respective LHSAA semifinal playoff games due to forecasted severe weather.

NEW ORLEANS — Three New Orleans-area prep football teams have announced changes to start times for their respective LHSAA semifinal playoff games due to forecasted severe weather Friday night.

Top-seed St. Charles Catholic will host 4-seed University Lab at Thomas Dupuy Stadium in LaPlace at 6 p.m.

The Comets are winners of the last two Division III Select state championships.

In Division I Select semifinal play, No. 5 Edna Karr hosts No. 8 Acadiana at Morris F.X. Jeff, Sr. Park, while No. 18 Archbishop Rummel travels north to face 3-seed Catholic of Baton Rouge at BREC Memorial Stadium. Both kickoffs have been moved up to 6:30 p.m.

All three games were originally scheduled for 7 p.m.

No. 2 Kentwood is still set to host 3-seed Oak Grove "Under the Tank" at Kentwood High School Stadium in the Division IV Non-select semifinals at 7.

Winners will advance to the state championships at the Caesars Superdome next week.
