COVINGTON, La. — According to Northshore District Attorney Warren Montgomery, St. Tammany Parish grand juries indicted two men on two separate second-degree murder cases on Wednesday and another man pled guilty this week in a near-six year double homicide case in Slidell.
Eighteen-year-old Colin Laughlin was indicted for the killing of Michael Anderson, who was fatally shot on July 28, and 59-year-old homeless man Vernon Lee was charged with killing long-time girlfriend Billie Blakley, who was found dead in June.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Steven Lee Olivieri pled guilty to the following charges for his role in the death of Raegan Day and Dustin Hartline in February 2018.
- one count of manslaughter
- one count of obstruction of justice
- one count of a felon in possession of a firearm
- one count of possession or manufacturing of a bomb
Both Day and Hartline were allegedly brought to an abandoned mobile home by Brittney Savell before being ambushed by Jason Landry and Derrien Lemoine, with the former shooting them both in the back of the head.
Landry, Lemoine, and Savell fled to Olivieri's residence after the shootings. Olivieri joined Lemoine in an attempt to hide the bodies and upon arrival, discovered Day was still alive despite already suffering from gunshot wounds to her head and foot.
According to Montgomery, Olivieri ignored Day's pleas for help and fatally shot her.
Olivieri is set for sentencing on Nov. 29 before District Judge Vincent Lobello.
DA Montgomery said Olivieri will be sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter and 25 years for obstruction of justice, to run consecutively to each other. The sentences for the other two charges will run concurrently, for a total of 65 years in prison.
In March, Landry pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter, two counts of second-degree kidnapping and two counts of conspiracy to comit armed robbbery with a firearm. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison.
The victims' families are scheduled to give victim impact statements at the sentencing hearing.
