BATON ROUGE, La. — Les Miles, LSU’s former football coach, is suing the university saying the school’s vacating of 37 wins from his tenure last year, cost him Hall of Fame eligibility.
As Nola.com reports, when LSU dropped the wins from Miles’ career record it fell to a .597% all-time winning percentage, below the minimum .600% required by the Hall of Fame.
"Les was given no right to be heard, or even advance notice of LSU’s actions, despite LSU being a state-owned and state-run institution that is bound by constitutional safeguards," said a press release from Miles' attorney, Peter R. Ginsburg obtained by Nola.com.
The university’s self-imposed punishment came after the NCAA determined that former LSU offensive lineman Vadal Alexander’s father was paid over $180,000 over five years.
The payments made Vadal ineligible during his four years playing with the Tigers from 2012 to 2015.
