CHICAGO — Former New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball said he would pay for Angel Reese's fine following her ejection Tuesday night.
Reese was thrown out with 2:31 left in the game after receiving two technical fouls following a brief interaction with official Charles Watson. The rookie forward appeared to say something to Watson and then quickly waved her hand.
“I tried to get an explanation. I did not,” Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon said postgame. “I don’t know to this moment what has happened.”
The WNBA announced that they rescinded her second technical foul on Wednesday. If a player receives seven technicals in the regular season they are assessed a one-game suspension.
Ball, who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, attended the game.
The Chi-Town Barbie had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Chicago Sky in their loss to the New York Liberty.
After the game, Ball tweeted, "Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak, btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you)."
Reese replied, saying, "I appreciate you, gang!"
She was also fined on Saturday after she failed to make herself available to the media. Reese is nearly averaging a double-double with 10.9 points and 9 rebounds in 8 games into the season.
