NEW ORLEANS — Krewe of Endymion founder Ed Muniz died Friday night at 83, according to krewe members.
We do not know the cause of his death but Muniz had battled health issues in recent years.
Muniz founded the Krewe of Endymion in 1966. The Kenner native also served a term as Kenner mayor and was a Jefferson Parish Council member and Kenner Councilman at large from 1987 to 2003.
Last week the Eyewitness News team was on-hand as a sculpture of Muniz was unveiled on the campus of Delgado Community College. The sculpture is part of the Endymion Garden. The statue is near Orleans Avenue, where the Endymion Parade starts.
