DES ALLEMANDS, La. — A Lafayette woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 90 in Lafourche Parish on Friday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
Lauren Womack, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene after her 2015 Honda Odyssey collided head-on with a westbound 2024 Honda CR-V near Fonseca Lane, police said. The crash was reported around 11:00 a.m.
Investigators say Womack's Odyssey was traveling east when it veered off the road, crossed a grassy median, and entered the westbound lanes, where it struck the CR-V. Womack was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the CR-V, who was restrained, was seriously injured and transported to a hospital outside the area for treatment, police said.
Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers as part of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
