Grass and a fence are the only visual memories now standing where a house once stood. A house where unspeakable horror shook officers, family members and neighbors two years ago this week.
“I can’t see how a person can get away with that, such a brutal murder,” Gentilly resident Samuel Smith said.
Samuel Smith lives just a few doors down from there the crime took place that tragic morning on March 10, 2017.
The lights and sirens centered around 30-year-old Monique Smith’s home. Inside she lay dead, along with her two sons, 10-year-old Justin and 6-year-old JuMyrin.
Sources told WWL-TV at the time Smith was shot in the head. Justin was also shot in the head and little JuMyrin was shot in the face. Her daughter, A’Miya, was the only survivor.
"I couldn't sleep for about two or three nights straight,” Smith said.
Eyewitness News spoke with Smith’s mother, Debra Smith, shortly after their deaths.
“He took my children away from me. This man took away my children away. I don't know who he is. I don't know why he did it,” Smith said.
Samuel Smith fondly remembers his neighbors being fun and generous, especially the little boys.
"I rang on the door to get some pecan because they had a pecan tree and the same little boy -- he had some in the bag and he brought them, 'I got some mother I can give it to em. And he gave them to me,” Smith said.
Seeing the murder in Terrytown recently gave him chills.
"I was thinking this seems to be the thing lately. People killing more than one person or something I mean killing families! I don't know what's going on in this world," Smith said.

Crimestoppers has a $10,000 reward out for anyone with information on this massacre. As Smith looks down at his neighbors on the Crimestoppers flyer, he hopes someone out there speaks up tonight.

"I still wish that they will find some kind of clue to this and close it. Because it's still on my mind,” Smith said.
