Two men indicted after beating Alabama fan to death in bar fight

At the time, his family members said they believe the attack was motivated by Bowers’ fandom.

PONCHATOULA, La. — A Tangipahoa Parish grand jury indicted two Ponchatoula men after a man was beaten to death in a bar fight following an LSU game in November 2018.

According to the district attorney’s office, 24-year-old Ryan Anthony and 28-year-old Azia Crockett were indicted for manslaughter in the death of 46-year-old Robert Bowers.

According to the Ponchatoula Police Department, on Nov. 4, 2018 officers responded to an altercation at Ponchatoula Pub on West Pine Street. Officers saw Bowers lying on the floor unconscious after a fight with Anthony and Crockett.

Bowers was taken to an area hospital after he was not breathing and medical personnel tried to resuscitate him. He was placed on life support before he died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head following the fight.

Crockett and Anthony later turned themselves in to police.
